December 2024 - Junior Newsletter

Dear Member,

Before we put our rackets down for the festive break, we have a few updates to bring you in the world of OC juniors

Junior xmas party - it was especially great to see so many young members show up to our Christmas shindig and stay on for the presentation evening. A lot of fun was had, and a lot of pizza and chocolate consumed! Thanks to everyone who turned up, and especially to those who helped with the smooth running of the evening. If you missed the teams and competition presentation or wanted any more info on teams and/or junior competition in 2025, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Alex to get up to speed (alexheathtennis@gmail.com). Juniors tennis socials – as promised, junior social sessions will be up and running in the new year! A chance for juniors to play tennis and hang out on a Saturday from 4pm. Coach Luke will be there to help set some matches and get everyone playing:

Jan 18th 4pm: 14 and under (yellow ball players)
Feb 1st 4pm: Orange and Green Ball (7-10yrs)

LTA competitions – we will be hosting LTA Grade 5 competitions (one day events) for juniors in 2025. The first one for your diaries is an U12 LTA Grade 5 event. This will be on Sunday 30th March from 3pm. Keep it clear if you’re keen! We will send the link for sign up out as soon as bookings go live.

Box league sign ups – so many of you are playing your matches, so well done for that! If you are not playing the box leagues, and keen to play some matches against fellow matches, then let Alex and Hamid know, and we will get you started! For those already playing, but not managing to get all matches played, a top tip is to organise a few matches on one day, like a matchplay day!

Spring programme 2025 - a reminder to get signed up if you haven’t already. For those in the academy, places are filling up (and limited!), so book now to avoid disappointment. Finally, our monthly coaching challenge for December is the Trick Shot Challenge !
