Junior Club Champs Update

Dear Juniors,

What a week of tennis we've been treated to! Forget about Queens Club, Old College is where it's at if you're looking for nail-biting championship tiebreaks, all court action and hotly-contested comebacks. With temperatures soaring, the action on court has been cooking and we're only at the halfway point.

This week we get into the business end of proceedings, with upcoming quarters and semis leading into next Saturday's biggie, finals day!

Some of you have been asking, for the U8s, U9s and U10s all the matches will take place on Saturday morning at 10.30am (but please arrive for 10.15am!) with the aim to finish by around 1pm.

Here are some of the highlights so far, and a taster of what's to come

In the U12s Boys the competition is gearing up, with some great matches already played in the first and second rounds. Special shout out goes to Arihaan Anand who is fast becoming the tie-break titan, with the third champ tie-break win in as many consecutive matches! Next up though he faces Fabian Ofori Sunner in a sure to be tight quarter final clash. Good luck to both boys!

New member Harry Au made it through to the semi finals with a win against Seb Lee in the last 16, and a very tough battle against 5th seed Monty Coletto in the quarters.

Aryaan Webb made it through a tough game against Percy Madden to the quarter finals to play Ralphie Odgers , with the winner of that match facing Harry in the Semis.

In the U12s Girls, Omaira Anand has thus far eased her way through to the final with some strong wins but bigger challenges await with either Koto O'Sullivan or Jeanie Dougie awaiting in the big one on Saturday, pending the result of what looks to be a cracking semi-final this week.

In the U14s Boys, all is still to play for as we head into the week with draw quarter final clashes featuring the top seeds battling it out for bragging rights. No1 contender Rishi Venkat is back in action after suffering a broken wrist - can he find his devastating form again against the heavy hitting Seb Soegianto ? Let's see!

In the U16s Boys, Harry Au has been going great guns to glide through to the semi finals and we have a hotly contested match to look forward to with Noah Zhu

In the U16s Girls, on paper it seems that Saturday will bring about the dream team top seeds clash of Livia Odgers and Dominique Brooks , but their steely opponents Kritika Sriraman and either Deivka or Viola may yet have a thing or two to say about that. Keep tuned to the daily updates to discover the outcome.

In the U18s Boys, OC junior star Eliot Ofori Sunner has already booked his place in Saturday's final, thanks to a win over the no 2 seed Ediz Persson . Can he upset the odds and go all the way? One thing's for sure, he'll have to get past either Marly Amarteifo or Hugo Odgers to do so!
