Club Championships - Order of Play - Friday 23rd June

Wednesday was an excellent midsummer night of tennis, with delicious food from the Women’s 4th team. Highlights included: an attritional win for Karanvir over big-hitting Sam Colbeck; a convincing Baylis fightback from 0-3 down against Ali Dewi; Paolo’s recovery from a near-meltdown when the lights went out to edge a win with Cedric against Richard and Luiz; and Simon Godfrey’s exquisite backhand volleying. Quote of the night from Joe Tyndall on Paolo’s win: ‘Who are those old blokes? They are playing some great tennis’.

Thursday was a quieter affair, with fewer matches, but some matches they were! Highlight of the day was a 2.5-hour marathon match in the u12 draw between two of our top young talents; Rishi Venkat and Sebastian Soegianto. Sebastian eventually prevailed in this high-quality encounter. Both players showed great sportsmanship and self belief throughout – a credit to the club, well done boys!

Friday night (below) will only have 4 courts in use for the club championships, so we have freed the other courts (3,4, 7 and 8) for members to use.
