Club Championships: Day 7 results & Saturday Order of Play

The sun was shining once again for this glorious OC tournament. Embracing the heat, this evenings competitors rocked a variety of sun visors, backwards hats, fluorescents caps and sunglasses during the matches. A true sight to behold.
Earlier today however, there must be a special mention for Katie McDermott & Arabella Milne who finished an absolute epic with Sue Chung-Atlee & Sonia Whitehead. A set tie-break each and a close match tie-break to finish. Coach Alex said it was amazing!
15th men’s seed Ajegbo took on Colbeck on show court 1. Some delightful tennis on display from both, but the favourite progresses.
Britton and Flind, who could go far in the mixed draw, went up against the promising Odgers pair. Big shots, big spin and big entertainment throughout - with Britton and Flind the victors.
Burnett and Casey duelled in the heat of court 8, with Burnett’s drop shops putting Casey to the test. But the fluorescent cap had the edge, and Casey progresses.
Anand brought his trademark consistency to court 4, not giving an inch to his opponent Bidder in a dominating display. Finishing with a lovely drop shot for the win.
Moody and Michel were all smiles in the sunshine as they put in an assured performance to advance to the next round. Michel though needs to work on her catching skills after an embarrassing display as a stray ball made its way to her during Baylis and Graham.
Baylis made it safely through to the next round with a serve volley masterclass. A convincing scoreline against a tough opponent.
Leslie and Cox went the distance battling to a championship tie-break to decide a wonderful contest. An incredible tie-break saw Cox save 4 match points, before Leslie sealed the win with a brilliant lob to make it 11-9. Match of the day!!
